Iroko
Iroko (Chlorophora Excelsa, Chlorophora Regia) is a species of iroko hardwood found in Western Africa. it has a yellow-brown to brown colouring, deepening to dark brown with light exposure. The grain is interlocked and sometimes has an irregular grain with a fairly coarse but even texture. The timber is very durable and has a wide range of uses, typically interior and exterior joinery, boat building and decking
Sapele
Sapele (Entandrophragma Cylindricum) is a species of sapele hardwood found in West Africa. It has a medium to fairly dark reddish brown appearance which features a well-marked stripe. The grain is interlocked and occasionally wavy with a fine texture. It is moderately durable and typical uses include internal and external joinery, shop fitting, furniture and moderate to high traffic flooring.
All our Hardwood posts are treated with industry leading oil from Osmo. Exterior timbers turn grey or silver over time as a result of exposure to the sun and rain. Osmo UV Extra is a high-quality oil that protects against the greying effect of the sun's UV rays on exterior wood by a factor of 12. It offers superb durability against weathering with an added biocide to combat insect attack and fungal growth. Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra dries to a satin-matt finish that will not peel, flake or blister.
Redwood (Softwood)
Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) Coastal north western United States. Grain is generally straight, though figured pieces may be wavy or irregular. Coarse texture and low natural lustre. Suitable for joinery work, and internal projects where a smooth square edge appearance is required. General use Internal projects such as carcassing, shelves, furniture.
